Dental check-up in The Hague
During a check-up, the dentist examines your teeth, gums and the lining of your mouth. You often won't notice an early cavity or gum inflammation yourself. The earlier we spot it, the smaller the treatment.
What does check-up involve?
We start with a short conversation: how are your teeth, do you have any complaints or questions? Then we check every tooth, your gums and your bite.
Where needed we take X-rays to see areas that aren't visible to the naked eye. You get an immediate explanation of what we see and what we recommend.
When do you need check-up?
For most people, a check-up once or twice a year is enough. If you have a higher risk of cavities or gum problems, we agree on a different schedule together.
Once or twice a year as a regular check-up, even if you have no complaints.
If your teeth are sensitive to cold, heat or sweet things.
If your gums bleed when brushing or flossing.
With pain, a chipped tooth or a loose filling.
When you are pregnant: hormones can make the gums more sensitive.
When you are new to the practice and we want to get to know your teeth.

Good to know
A check-up usually takes no longer than fifteen minutes, but makes a big difference in the long run.
Prevention is better
A small cavity is quick and easy to fill. Waiting makes treatment bigger and more expensive.
Coverage
Children under 18 are covered for check-ups by basic health insurance. Adults need supplementary dental insurance.
Bring along
Your ID, your insurance card and a list of medication you use.
What does check-up cost?
Dental fees in the Netherlands are set by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). You receive an explanation of the costs before any treatment, and a quote for larger treatments. What your health insurer covers depends on your policy.
